The real electricity price

Real-time day-ahead electricity prices across Europe, including energy tax, grid fees, and VAT. Pick your country and see the all-in price update hourly.

What's the electricity price right now?

The price at the top of the page is what a kilowatt-hour actually costs you this hour — the market price plus energy tax, grid fee and VAT. It changes every hour, so it's worth a glance before you run the dishwasher or charge the car.

What am I actually paying for?

Four things: the wholesale market price, energy tax, your grid fee, and VAT on top of all of it. Only the market price moves hour to hour — the rest stay flat. You can see where each number comes from on the data page.

Why does the price sometimes go below zero?

On windy, sunny days there's more power than the country can use, and the market price can dip below zero. We show it as a real negative number rather than hiding it. The taxes and fees still apply, though, so what you pay all-in almost never drops that far.

When can I see tomorrow's prices?

Early afternoon, once the day-ahead market settles for the next day. After that you can plan ahead. Prices refresh on their own while the page is open.
